New painting

In the midst of commissioned paintings (which i am really enjoying) I have been looking at the colours and feel of Kent in January, here is my take on the last few days. Nearly finished, I will call it January Winter Greens.

Winter sun is special, and especially this year when we have been treated here in Kent to grey skies and unseasonably warm weather. The last couple of days have been glorious though, cold, sunny and perfect!

2016

Happy New Year....I think I can still say this on the 4th of January :)

I am looking foward to a great few months with some really interesting commissions as well as re-building my portfolio after a slightly crazy autumn.

I also wish to spend time in my studio experimenting with colour and scale, making some abstract painting on paper using lots of different materials, inks, pastels, charcoal and oil sticks, as well as paint. As with lots of activity, I need a shopping trip.. In this case to find inspiring art materials and paper. I will be outside a lot too, walking and cycling to gather inspiration and ideas (this has a dual function as I have definitely indulged in lots of festive eating a drinking!)

Bright Winter's Red

Did I say in my last post that was the final painting for the year? Wrong! I have been looking at this small piece in my studio for a while and had a sudden burst of energy towards it..that red is pretty flourescent in the flesh, I hope that the photo reflects that.

I can't believe I have had a painting in the Saturday Telegraph magazine yesterday! I was so excited when a friend emailed to let let me know she had seen one of my paintings in a feature at the extraordinary and beautiful home of the Cooke family, Bayham hall in Kent. I was lucky enough to be commissioned to create two large pieces for them this year, and to have the opportunity to have a solo exhibition in their home back in September. I can't resist showing you a photo from the magazine, see below.

My studio has been pretty busy too, take a look at my newest work in progress, on a 40x150cm canvas. I love the shape! Should be finished next week.

 Finally, I so enjoy working on large paintings and this is one of my favourite pieces this year, a 110x180cm canvas. Soft colour and warm spring air somehow really appeal at this time of the year!
