Commissioned paintings, the process and a few examples

I have been really enjoying taking commissioned paintings on during this strange lockdown time, and would love to share a few with you.

To find out more about my commission process please take a look here on my website. I am also partnered with GoCardless, which allows me to design an interest free payment which is right for you, if you would like to spread payments over 3, 6, 9 or 12 months.

Please see two 80x200cm paintings for friends, one inspired by the other in terms of size.

The top painting is inspired by summer in the alps, cool blues and green dominate. the bottom piece is altogether hotter and has quite a lot of florescent painting, and a glimpse of the sea.

Me! Holding up the painting for a little photo op in our home. I have a warm grey wall which is a great tone for almost all artworks.

In contrast a squarer painting created for friend and florist @generousgardener , a lovely lady who lives just a few miles away from me in Kent

Hello!

It has been a very long time since my last post, February in fact.

So much has happened in the world since then. Here in my corner of Kent, south east England it feels great to get back to blogging again.

I spend quite a lot of time on Instagran, and have found that the artitssupportpledge initiative has been a fabulous way to make new friends, sell artwork, and find clients for other paintings and commissioned work. Each painting sold with this scheme must be no more that £200, and each time I reach a £1000 milestone in sales, I buy a piece from another artist for £200...genius! I have a few examples of paintings sold this way below.

I have also made several large commissioned pieces in the past three months, more than I would usually expect to do, and it's been such a joy to me. I really love to interact with clients, find out what they like and try to create something special. More often I work with online galleries or art consultants and interior designers,  speaking directly with clients is definitely something special.

Take a look below for a few examples, and don't forget, you can always email me for more information abut creating your own commissioned painting which will be personal for you, and fit seamlessly into your home.

Two winter roses

I cannot tell you how much I love to work on tiny canvasses! They are so so good for experimentation, colours and shapes get pushed around the canvas surface, and layers of paints build up.

These are my two latest efforts...my favourite is Winter Rose III, I love the khaki green/orange/pinks palette.

Happy February

In the UK, many people find January a tough month....

February has dawned and it's pretty good so far, I am very fortunate to have sold artwork with Artfinder and Serena Hall gallery both over the weekend, That is enough to make me smile...plus snowdrops are coming out and I had the the most lovely cycle through the Kent countryside on Saturday.

Watch this space for more studio developments, I am pretty active at the moment.

Connectiong to painting

Losing myself in colour and tones, is something I cannot explain. It seems to happen when I am completely in the moment of painting, I can find myself holding three of four brushes, and reaching for lots of different colours.

I have started a little series called My Year in Colour. Here is number one!

Just finished, it's an anticipatory piece, dreaming of spring days. What do you think of the details, and the wall shot?

I am working outside, and it's cold and quite definitely winter!

I have been working on several pieces in my two coats and woolly hat...firstly  The painting below, which is an ode to a rainy wintery day, just after it's finished raining, the sun has appeared, and colour is jewel like.

Rainy Blue Sky, Mauve Day

£950

The two below are both works in progress, blue, blue, green and blue is the colour theme here in both pieces. I am enjoying the top painting, Winter Beach...have not yet made too many decisions about the bottom painting. Even the title is in flux! Currently working on How Winter Feels.
