A very old client and friend spotted this in my studio...it's been there for a while, being worked on and added to. I am so happy to say it's getting out of the studio and onto a wall :)

Impressionistic landscape.

Green is a year round colour in the natural world where I live, and this grassy painting in shades of winter greens, yellow, and dusky pink celebrates that.

I use top quality Golden acrylics, and spend time layering the canvas with many shades of paint, flicking, using a palette knife, brushes rags and allowing paint to drip down the canvas in order to create a rich textured paint surface.

This 30x100cm canvas is unframed. It has white painted edges and is strung with picture cord ready to hang.

Work in progress on this 120x180cm canvas....I am just getting to last stages, where I add texture and colour, and spend a long time staring!

At the risk of irritating..I do like January. This year has been very sunny and cold generally, which is perfect winter weather as far as I'm concerned.

These sunny wintry days here in Kent are just stunning...the sky colours in particular catch my eye, the transitioning from one shade to another just before sunset is lovely, fleeting and magical.

I love to try and catch winter light, it can be cold and bright in Kent where I live, and walking through farm land past fields with hedgerows dark with branches, and the sun shining is very beautiful.

I use top quality acrylic paints, and layer them onto my canvas over days and weeks to create a very textured and rich paint surface. I often work outside, and this painting was started outside and finished in my studio.
