Extraordinarily lovely autumn weather here in Kent, bright and full of rich colour and tone. I am really enjoying being outside and taking it all in.

I have just moved my kit into a new workspace, at the moment everything is tidy and calm, I have decided that I actually like it that way, so a new era of tidying and order reigns!

Chasing autumn light

I have been fascinated by the subtle colours of autumn this year. I live at the bottom of a hill, and we see early morning mists which are other-worldly and rather transient, which just adds to the appeal for me.

November morning

Full of inspiration after a great few days away in Pembrokeshire, I am ready for November! I have a list of commissions, all of which look exciting and engaging, as well as work for my portfolio and for the Hampshire Art Fair at the end of this month.

Abermawr Beach, Pembrokeshire. Great for walking, loafing, swimming and searching out the most beautiful pebbles.

The four seasons...

I have completed two from a series of paintings titled The Four Seasons. I am really enjoying the long format of these pieces. I am actually missing winter out! so maybe a re-title is in order.

Works in progress

Working on several paintings at once gives me lots of latitude with colour and experimentation. I have had the two smaller square canvasses in my studio for a few weeks now, and have really enjoyed reflecting the season with the palette. The larger painting is part of a four piece commission, titled 'High Summer'.
Just about the get out to my studio for a morning with High Summer....with autumnal rain pattering on the roof!

Weekend in Shoreditch....

I have spent a weekend In London, taking part in the Artfinder Pop-up gallery in Shoreditch, London.

Artfinder are a gallery I have been fortunate enough to sell my work through since March last year. They are an online platform, this weekend included large screens where visitors could curate their own selection, as well as real live paintings. Artists also demonstrated their craft. I enjoyed this element very much, although I was slightly concerned about my paints flying everywhere as I make a mess when I work!

Altogether inspiring as well as great fun.

Work in situ...

I was thrilled to receive this picture of this 35x76 inch painting in situ from client Dave Goodman. He is a builder based in Edmond, Oaklahoma and commissioned this painting for one of his show-homes.

I sent it off in a protected 3mm card tube, and the owner has had it stretched. This makes carriage a lot more affordable!

The Brighton Art Fair 2014

I so enjoyed my few days as an exhibitor at the Brighton Art Fair. I was surrounded by interesting artists, met a lot of people, handed out my card and chatted with potential clients, sold paintings and took several commissions.

Commisioned painting via SaatchiArt

I take on commissioned paintings, something I really enjoy. I have just completed my first commission via SaatchiArt. It is based on my painting 'Marigold Summer'.

The commissioned piece is the upper image, and the original painting is below it.

I am working on several more commissions at the moment, some based on specific paintings, and some on more general ideas.

 

September's nearly here...

I think of September as a doing month, people and life become very active. My September activity seems to have spilled into the ten days of August as well. My autumn diary this year is very full, and I have several commissions in my studio too. Can't wait to get stuck in!

I was very happy to sell this painting a couple of weeks ago, and I am now working on a much larger version for a client.
